Pet Sheep
At the present time I have two male Gotland sheep, called Jock and Miffy, they were born in Britain but are descended from the Swedish Island of Gotland. They were destined for the butcher; however, for many years, have happily grazed in my paddock. They have brought me a better understanding of sheep and donated their fleeces to numerous cushions and handwoven cloth. Homegrown sheep are a sustainable source of wool and remind me of the old ways of making cloth, when yarn came straight from the local sheep’s back.
